A supply and specification guide to Egyptian IQF okra and molokhia for 2026, covering grades, cut formats, packing, pallet configuration, ports and certifications for importers and food distributors.

Frozen vegetables move all year, which is why importers who build a summer program around fresh fruit often ask us to keep an IQF line running alongside it. For 2026 the two Egyptian frozen items with the steadiest global demand are okra and molokhia. Both are grown across the Nile Delta and Upper Egypt, processed within hours of harvest, and shipped individually quick frozen so buyers receive free-flowing product rather than solid blocks.
Egyptian IQF okra is offered in whole and cut forms. Whole okra is graded by pod length, with the premium baby grade running 2 to 4 cm and the standard grades covering roughly 4 to 6 cm and 6 to 9 cm. Cut okra is prepared at 1 to 2 cm rings from the same raw material and suits buyers supplying foodservice and ready-meal lines. Zero-cut and de-capped options are available where the market wants a cleaner pod. Color is a deep green, and we hold to strict tolerances on broken pods, fibrous units and foreign material.
Molokhia, also called jute mallow, is a core item for Gulf, Levantine and diaspora markets. We supply it minced, which is the format most kitchens expect, and as whole leaf for buyers who prefer to process on arrival. The line is blanched before freezing to lock color and texture, then screened for stems and grit. Because demand climbs sharply through the second half of the year and into Ramadan, buyers who commit volume early tend to secure both better pricing and guaranteed slots on the processing calendar.
Standard retail packing is 400 g and 1 kg polybags, cartoned in 10 kg or 20 kg master cases. Bulk buyers take 10 kg polyliners in carton or 20 kg cases for repacking. A 40-foot reefer holds around 24 to 26 tonnes depending on the pack, loaded on 20 pallets with cases interlocked for stability. We label to buyer specification, including private label, and print production and best-before dates plus lot codes for full traceability.
Product is held and shipped at minus 18 Celsius. Reefers are pre-cooled before stuffing and monitored through transit. We ship mainly from Alexandria and Damietta, with Sokhna used for buyers routing through the Red Sea. Our frozen program runs under ISO 22000 and HACCP, with GLOBALG.A.P at farm level, and third-party inspection by SGS or Intertek arranged on request. Our approach to fruit follows the same discipline described in our Egyptian frozen strawberry export guide, so buyers can consolidate frozen fruit and vegetables under one supplier and one set of documents.
IQF okra and molokhia are available for booking now, with fresh-season stock building through the summer and steady supply into 2027. Buyers running a mixed program can pair these items with onions and other lines from our Egyptian onion export supply to fill a container efficiently.
