Egypt targets $14bn in food exports in 2026 — 25% growth — backed by duty-free Mercosur access to Brazil, Argentina and more.

Egypt is aiming for $14 billion in food exports in 2026 — about 25% above last year — supported by duty-free access to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Egypt has set a target of $14 billion in food exports for 2026, roughly 25% higher than last year, as part of a broader push to diversify markets and strengthen foreign-exchange earnings. Fresh agricultural exports reached around $4.96 billion last year, with processed food adding close to $6.89 billion.

Supporting that ambition, the Egypt–Mercosur framework provides duty-free access to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay — opening lower-tariff routes into South America alongside the 21 new markets reported in the first half of 2026.

What it means for buyers: Tariff-free access to large South American markets is a real differentiator for Egyptian origin. Importers and distributors weighing new-market expansion should factor Mercosur destinations into 2026/27 planning.
