Egypt's food exports reached $2.43bn in Jan–Apr 2026, up 7.1% year on year, on wider market diversification and steady global demand.
Egypt’s food exports reached $2.43 billion in the first four months of 2026 — up 7.1% ($161 million) on the same period last year.
Egypt’s food and agricultural export sector opened 2026 on solid ground. According to figures released by the Food Export Council on 14 June, total food exports between January and April reached $2.43 billion, compared with $2.27 billion a year earlier — a gain of roughly $161 million.
Monthly totals climbed steadily through the period, from about $536 million in January to $586 million in February and $616 million in March. The Council linked the performance to wider market diversification and competitiveness holding up despite volatility in global trade and supply chains.
What it means for buyers: A broad-based rise across the food basket points to healthy underlying demand for Egyptian origin and supports stable container programmes through the rest of the year. For importers, it signals an export base with room to commit to consistent volumes.
