Egypt’s grape calendar is all about being first. The country’s warm spring ripens table grapes weeks ahead of Spain, Italy and other Northern-Hemisphere origins, so Egyptian grapes hit Europe in an early, high-value window before the market fills. This guide sets out the Egyptian grape export season month by month, by variety and by market.

Quick answer: The Egyptian grape export season runs roughly May to July (some early fruit from late April), peaking in June. Early white varieties (Early Sweet, Prime) and Flame Seedless open the season; Superior and Thompson carry the mid-season; Crimson Seedless and Autumn Royal extend it into July. Egypt’s key advantage is arriving early, ahead of European production. (Peak supply is in June; exact windows shift year to year with weather and variety.)

The early-season advantage

European table grapes (mainly Spain and Italy) come to market from roughly August onward. Egypt’s harvest arrives well before that, so for May–July there is strong demand and limited Northern-Hemisphere competition. That early window is the single most valuable feature of the Egyptian grape season — the earlier the fruit, the higher the return.

Early window (late April to May)

The season opens with the earliest white varieties — Early Sweet and Prime — and early Flame Seedless. This is the premium period: European buyers and UK retailers pay up for the first quality seedless grapes of the season.

Peak (June)

June is the high-volume month, with Flame, Superior Seedless and Thompson in full supply. Quality and choice are at their best, and the EU, UK, Gulf and Russia are all active.

Late season (July)

The later red and black varieties — Crimson Seedless and Autumn Royal — carry the tail of the season, extending Egyptian supply before Northern-Hemisphere grapes take over.

Planning notes

  • Premium programs: target the late-April-to-May early window for the best returns.
  • Volume programs: anchor on June peak supply.
  • Season extension: use Crimson and Autumn Royal for July.
  • Book early: the early window is short and in high demand — confirm allocations ahead of the season.
